Defence MindedINFO:Gualco was a centre back or right-back. His career began in 1983 at Sanremese. Two years later he joined Cremonese where he stayed until his retirement in 1999 − excluding the 1996-97 season at Lausanne-Sport − playing 402 matches and scoring 32 goals.
One of Cremonese's legends, Gualco was a tough and physically gifted defender, a marker who was also accurate in covering the space. Not too light but quick, he had good feet, technique and liked to join the attack. He was dangerous in the opposing box thanks to his heading ability and timing that made him score a good amount of goals. One of his most memorable moments came when he scored against Milan on 25th September 1994: after the match Gualco said that a draw would have been enough for Cremonese but not only he scored the winning goal, he also was able to stop Ruud Gullit for the entire match.
