Tansini was a winger on the left side. He played many seasons in Serie A and he did well everywhere: 10 goals in 57 matches for Cremonese from 1924 and 1927; 18 in 82 for Milan in the three following seasons; 12 in 54 for Napoli between 1930 and 1932; 6 in 32 for Padova in 1932-33. He played also for Piacenza and Sampierdarenese, where he retired in 1935. He capped twice for Italy in 1926, while he was part of Cremonese. He had several physical problems throughout his career due to which he was nicknamed "Glass ankle" by journalist Bruno Roghi.
Tansini was a winger gifted with excellent ball control, a powerful and accurate shot, great speed that led him many times in front of the goal. Whenever Tansini received the ball when he was unmarked, he would control it masterfully, but if there were opponents around him, his concern of taking a bump got the best of him. In fact, his playstyle lacked of strength and agonism but it was clear, flowing, clever and pure. He was an excellent crosser, which is proved by the many efficient crosses he delivered from the left flank in every match, especially while playing for Italy in the 3-0 win against Ireland on 21st March 1926. His first goal in Padova showed his offensive playstyle: a corner was taken and the area was crowded; his terror to get injured in a physical contact made him stay free and away from the group of players; the long ball went past it and reached Tansini, who hit and scored with a header after turning the head a bit. He scored two other memorable and similar goals while playing for Milan against Torino and Ambrosiana-Inter: after one of his usual fast runs on the flank, he delivered a powerful shot with his left foot, sending the ball with great curling to the high right angle of the goal.
