Alessandro Mannini is a former goalkeeper. His career started in 1977 at Viareggio. One year later, he signed for Pisa where he spent the majority of his career, making 241 appearances from 1978 to 1987. He then played for Bari, Pescara, Fiorentina, Cremonese and again Viareggio, retiring in 1996.
Mannini was a complete and very reliable goalkeeper. While he wasn't very tall and strong, he possessed quickness off the line and cat-like agility between the posts. His very good reaction and jump allowed him to make plastic saves. He also had solid defense overall and the ability to close the space against opposing strikers in 1-on-1 situations.
