Pianca was a playmaker, midfielder or striker, who played mainly for Reggina in Serie C: 161 league games and 40 goals from 1974 to 1979. He had the chance to spend a season in Serie A in 1979-80, when he played 14 matches for Udinese and scored 4 times.
Pianca was a dynamic player, gifted with very good technique and dribbling but his career never reached high levels because of his rebel and anarchic attitude that influenced his performances, never consistent. He's considered one of the most talented players in the history of Reggina, proved by the many goals he scored and many assists he delivered in his time in the club. In fact he was a prolific scorer, an able free kick taker but also the brain of the team, the playmaker who passed the ball to the strikers ready to run towards the goal. He as well was able to get inside the box running through the defence and score.
