Defence MindedINFO:Bicchierai was a centre back, defensive midfielder or sweeper. He played mostly for Catania, appearing 114 times from 1962 to 1967 and he's considered one of the most important defenders of the squad at the time. He had spells also at Empoli, Lecco, Inter and Pistoiese. He retired in 1971.
Bicchierai was a solid and impenetrable defender, authoritarian and impetuous, gifted with tremendous strength. He always tried to do everything possible to defend. He was considered a mastiff. In fact he was a fierce tackler who didn't hesitate to put down an opponent who tried to dribble him. Understandably, his toughness made him cause many fauls. However he never received a red card. His main task was not only to stop the strikers but also to deliver long passes to the furthest forwards.
