Battista Festa was a defensive midfielder. He spent most of his career at Pergolettese in lower leagues with 186 mathes and 17 goals from 1963 to 1969, at Cesena with 153 games and 13 goals from 1971 to 1976, and Atalanta with 145 appearances and 6 goals from 1976 to 1981. He played also for Modena between 1969 and 1971.
Festa was a player gifted with good vision of play and incredible stamina that made him able to play even more than 90 minutes. He had good feet thanks to which he scored a good amount of goals. He was small and dangerous in the box due to his malice. In fact after any minimum contact he could easily dive on the ground and fool the referee who gave the penalty. Gifted with a powerful shot, he often pushed forward centrally to shoot on goal but he was also an able header − despite his short size. Sometimes he acted as fake winger throughout the match to take advantage of his great speed, running like a marathoner down the flank to deliver nice crosses.
