Demarchi was a centre-forward and occasionally inside-right who transitioned into a half-back and centre-back in his late years. He spent the majority of his careet at Casale, playing from 1928 to 1934, 1937 to 1939 and in 1940-41, for a total 215 appearances and 67 goals. He also played for Vigevano, Pro Vercelli, Pistoiese and Pavese.
A prolific striker in his early years, Demarchi possessed good technique, an accurate shot, an excellent heading ability and great tactical awareness proven by his ability to always be unmarked to receive a pass. As he started losing his scoring ability during the 1932-33 season, he decided to become a half-back where he could take more advantage of his technique and tactical awareness. Occasionally deployed as inside-forward, he showed decent passing skill in this position, although he wasn't as effective as he was as main striker. Demarchi scored Casale's last Serie A goal so far on 22nd April 1934 against Lazio.
