INFO:Aguilera was a secondary striker and centre forward. His career began in 1979. He played for several clubs in America: River Plate, Club Nacional and Peñarol in Uruguay, Independiente Medellín in Colombia, Racing Club in Argentina, Estudiantes Tecos in Mexico. In 1989 he transferred to Italy where he had the best time of his career. He played three seasons at Genoa, scoring a total of 46 goals in 115 matches. Then he had a successful year at Torino but was sold at the beginning of the following one after a total of 17 goals in 54 games. He retired in 1999 after five seasons at the Peñarol. He capped 65 times for Uruguay, scoring 23 goals.
Aguilera was a small player, fast and creative, gifted with technique and excellent dribbling, sense of goal and opportunism inside the box. He could deliver accurate and powerful shots with both feet and was an able penalty and free kick taker. He could make fantastic first-time or acrobatic shots, passes with the outside of the foot and he was a decent header despite his short height. He was a very dynamic player who liked to move to the midfield, fight for the ball and trigger the attack. He could dribble his opponents with quick and tight movements, deliver very good short passes and run towards the goal. Sometimes he would move to the flank and find some space to deliver a cross to the box. He had an incredible partnership with Skhuravy and worked well with other teammates like Roberto Onorati and Gennaro Ruotolo. The same was at Torino players like Enzo Scifo and Andrea Silenzi.
