He was the prototype of a modern full back who was able to quickly transform from defensive to attacking actions. He was good defender who although was strong, he didn't represent that on the pitch, he rather relied on his positioning. He was very fast player with good crosses, and that's one of the reasons he could play at wing successfully. He was really fast with the ball in his feet which was rare for a defender back then. He was good passer and technically gifted player. He tragically lost his life in a car crash when he was only 33.
