Mohammed is a former attacking or right side midfielder and right winger. His career began in 1978 and ended in 1993. He played for Al-Mosul, Al-Talaba, Al-Shabab, Al-Jaish and Al-Rasheed. He gained around 90 caps for Iraq and scored at least 7 goals. He won the 1982 Asian Games, took part to the 1984 Olympics and 1986 FIFA World Cup.
Mohammed was a skillful, athletic midfielder and creative playmaker. Not too quick, he was gifted with very good technical qualities and used both feet well. He could distribute the ball and acted mainly outside the box. He surged forward when he had the chance and could score. He possessed a dangerous long range shot and scored some remarkable goals with bicycle kicks. He also was a decent header and free kick taker.
