Li Ming is a former right side midfielder, capable of playing in the center or on the left. He spent his entire career at Dalian Wanda from 1989 to 2005, making 244 appearances and scoring 36 goals. He capped for China 85 times, scoring 8 times. He took part to four AFC Asian Cups in 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004. He retired in 2005.
One of the most prominent Chinese players of the 1990s, Li Ming was particularly effective on the wings as he possessed fine speed despite a strong build, and could break through the defence before delivering an accurate cross. He was deployed mainly on the right flank, although he could be seen switching side frequently. He often was the one to set up the attacking play. Moreover, he was gifted with high stamina, good technique, dribbling, and decent shooting ability on either foot.
