Attack/Defence Awareness Cards: BalancedINFO:A towering centre half, England already had 20 Welsh caps when he arrived of Spurs for £ 95.000, a record for a defender in 1966.
He had the unenviable task of replacing double hero Maurice Norman but fit the bill perfectly with his power in the air, strong in tackle and threat at attacking set-pieces allied with a turn of pace and ability on the ball.
He helped the club win the FA Cup in his first season, 1966-67, dominating Chelsea dangerman Tony Hateley in the final at Wembley.
England added the UEFA Cup in 1972 and League Cup in 1973 but injury ruled him out of the 1971 League Cup win. He also played and scored in the ill-fated UEFA Cup final of 1974.
Capped 44 times in all by Wales, he announced his retirement in March 1975 as he struggled with an ankle injury but after a spell with Seattle in America, he returned for one more season with Cardiff City.
