INFO:A hard-wearing player who was tough to face and who contributed well but for that matter played unfairly. Fitness, good powerful shot, good on the head, very good passer, liked to send weighted passes often, winner skull who never gave up, technically and tactically compliant and never missed a penalty! Right footed, uses left very well (it was said that his left is much stronger). Called "Puskas", because he had a pretty good left foot. Elegant dribbling and through courting passes. Puskas ran a whole lot of running meters, which is ungrateful and little applauded in football. But he can break the rhythm and thought of the opponent's attacks.
As a youth player, he mostly played as a forward (right winger also). Anders was recruited as an attacking player for MFF, but did not fully succeed in that position, he was mediocre as a forward and was not good enough. However, in midfield he was extremely useful with his great work effort, strength of game intelligence. In his second season in MFF, Anders Ljungberg had a safe place in the team. Anders become a penalty kick taker in MFF when coach Bob Houghton arrived in 1974.
He achieved the Swedish Cup / Championship double in 1967. From 1969 to 1971 he was a player for Åtvidabergs FF. He won two Swedish Cups with this club in 1970 and 1971. In 1972, Ljungberg returned to Malmö. With Malmö, he was crowned Swedish Champion three times and won the national cup 2 four times. During the Champions Clubs' Cup campaign in 1978-79 , he took part in 7 matches. He scored a hat-trick against Wisła Krakow in the quarter-finals. He holds in the final against Nottingham Forest lost 0-1. Malmö played the 1979 Intercontinental Cup against Club Olimpia. Ljungberg played the first leg final, the Swedish club lost the double confrontation 3-1 in the two matches. After a stint at IF Limhamn Bunkeflo in 1979, he played under the colors of Landskrona BoIS from 1979 to 1981. He played for Örebro SK before hanging up his boots in 1982.
A Swedish international, he received eight selections for the Swedish team with a goal scored between 1969 and 1977. His first national team match took place on February 18, 1969 against Israel (3-2 victory in Tel-Aviv) in friendly. He scored a goal during a meeting in the Nordic Championship on August 11, 1976 against Finland (6-0 victory in Malmö). His last match is a friendly meeting on April 27, 1977against Scotland (1-3 defeat in Glasgow).
