He was a player with a very quick dribble, turns, good shot technique, first touch, decent header. In the partnership with Tommy Hansson, Cervin was the one who would also run more in depth and he was faster also.

He only started playing organized football when he was 20 years old. Two years later, Tore Cervin debuted in the Allsvenskan. In 1974 and 1975, Cervin won the league title twice in a row with Malmö FF. He also finished second in the 1975 season with 20 goals this season as the club's top scorer. Probably the greatest success of his career came in the European Cup in 1978/79, when the team after victories over AS Monaco, Dynamo Kiev, Wisła Kraków and FK Austria Vienna reached the final, losing eventually to Nottingham Forrest.

As early as 1975, Tore Cervin had his first international match. It was against Denmark in Malmö in a national team that contained six MFF players. After that, it took four years before he made his remaining three international matches. Among other things, against England at Råsunda and in the EC qualifier against Luxembourg, where Tore scored his only international goal. Tore Cervin can boast of never having lost an international match. That said match against Luxembourg was the only victory is another matter.

In 1980, Tore ended his playing career in MFF when he received a professional offer from Toronto, which then had Bob Houghton as coach. However, there was only one season in North America. When Tore returned to Malmö, he first became a playing coach in Limhamn for two years, but was then attracted as a player to Helsingborg for two years. However, there were injury-filled years and the active career was over.
