INFO:Hardworking, probably one of the most heartfelt Red Star players in history. Persistent, combative, honest fighter, a synonym of combativeness and sacrifice, which was precisely because of those willing moments that he got the nickname Staja after the legendary English football player Nobby Styles. Man of the task, he was a specialist for the best players of opposing teams. He drove Mlinaric to madness, as well as Abid Kovacevic and others...
He played 307 games for Red Star (129 official) and scored five goals. He was among the most outstanding players of his time, and with the red and whites he was a three-time champion (1973, 1977 & 1980), won the Yugoslav Superchampion trophy and the Yugoslav Cup in 1973.
He played in Bolton for two years where he signed for £180,000 from Red Star Belgrade, and was also part of the Yugoslavian national team. He played 32 matches for the youth team, 22 for the youth national team, and for the senior national team of Yugoslavia, he played four times and scored one goal. He made his debut on September 25, 1976 in a defeat against Italy (0:3) in Rome, and his last match was on November 13, 1977 in a 6:4 victory over Romania.
