INFO:

Thomas Wolter is a former Werder Bremen long time football player. The versatile blond-haired player is a fixture in the right defensive midfield, where he excels at exploiting open spaces, pushing forward, and delivering dangerous crosses. The fit, dynamic and endurable player can also play as a centre back or as a free man in midfield. Thomas Wolter, as he himself says, was never a gifted talent, but merely an (albeit very fast) "average" player. It was only the daily work as a professional that turned him into a top-class player. Educated as an insurance salesman Wolter played in the Bundesliga for Werder Bremen for fourteen years. He played in 312 games and scored 12 goals for the "Norddeutschen". From 1984/85 he belonged to the professional cadre of Werder. But with Günter Hermann, Norbert Meier, Wolfgang Sidka and Benno Möhlmann the competition was in midfield very large. In his first professional years Wolter was therefore limited to three games. He made his debut on 24 November 1984 against Eintracht Braunschweig. The 4-1 victory, he substituted in the 82nd minute Uwe Reinders. For the German national football team he played one match. For the friendly against Brazil on 16th December 1992 was the defensive player in the starting lineup of the DFB. In the 59th Minute he was replaced by Michael Zorc. With Werder he was German Champion in 1988 and 1993, German Cup winner in 1991 and 1994, German Supercup winner in 1988, 1993 and 1994, European Cup Winners' Cup winner in 1991/92. He holds a license as a football coach of the DFB and is currently (from July 2010) coach of third division football team Werder Bremen.
