Attack/Defence Awareness Card: Balanced Anthony Keith Book (born 4 September 1934) has had one of the most remarkable careers of any professional footballer in the history of the game. By the time he was 28 years old he was still playing non-league at weekends whilst earning his living as a bricklayer during the week. At the age of 31, he joined First Division Manchester City, where he became captain.
In 1967, Book was named captain following the transfer of previous captain, and was henceforth nicknamed "Skip" by his teammates. Under Book's captaincy, Manchester City won four major trophies, making him the second-most decorated Manchester City captain of all-time. He plays mostly at right back position. He is quite fast for a fullback at his age, famous wingers of the day rarely chose to play against him 1-on-1 on his flank. He often joins the attack with overlapping runs, then distributing some decent lofted passes or tight low crosses creating chances for the likes Young, Lee, Summerbee or Bell.
Quote:
He was one of the quickest defenders around and Manchester United star George Best is quoted as listing Book as his most difficult opponent
