Daniele Conti is a former defensive or central midfielder. Son of Bruno Conti, he grew up at Roma and joined Cagliari in 1999. After some underwhelming seasons ─ he was young and Cagliari was playing in Serie B ─ he eventually became one of the most beloved players in the history of the Rossoblu as soon as the club came back to Serie A in 2005. Cagliari record-man for appearances, he played a total of 464 matches and scored 51 goals from 1999 to 2015, being captain in the last five seasons. Never called-up for Italy, he didn't make it a big deal because his love for Cagliari was bigger than playing for the national team.
Conti was a mix between a midfielder who has to interdict the attack of the opponents and one who has to set up the play for his own team. He wasn't too fast but gifted with good technique and vision of game. He was an accurate passer when acting as playmaker, a hard tackler when stopping the opponents. Not rarely quite rough in the tackles, he often received yellow or red cards. He was dangerous inside the opposing box, especially due to his timing of reaction and a good header ability. He had a powerful long range shots, even from impressive distances or with first time touches, and could take free kicks remarkably.
