INFO:Pearson was an inside-left. He spent the majority of his career at Manchester United, making 322 appearances and scoring 144 goals from 1937 to 1953. He then played for Bury from 1954 to 1957, scoring 56 goals in 132 matches. He retired in 1959 after spending two years at Chester City. He capped for England 8 times, scoring 5 goals.
Considered one of the most complete inside forwards of his time, Pearson was a clever and prolific striker, distinguished for exquisite vision and unflashy technique. He was, in fact, appreciated for intelligence and unselfish style of play. He wasn't fast and didn't have a powerful strike as his shots mostly came from inside the box, but he possessed physical strength, a good touch, football brain, passing skill, tactical awareness and heading ability. Moreover, his immense stamina allowed him to constantly fight for the ball. His qualities allowed him to score as much as he created chances. The brain of the attack, he had the instinct and awareness of knowing where his teammates were going to run and the ability to assist them with first touch passes. He was accurate in delivering field-crossing passes or making flicks and slips through the defenses, although he was never flamboyant . On the other hand, he lacked offensive aggression and often looked like he was walking through the match. Nonetheless, his supporters appreciated his craftmanship.
