Defence-MindedINFO:Germán Conti is an Argentine footballer who plays as a center-back. Born in Santa Fe, Argentina (03/06/1994), Conti started his professional career in 2013 for boyhood club Colón de Santa Fe. Conti had a meteoric rise at a very young age, already being the undisputed starter and captain of the team in 2014, at the age of 20. That year, Colón was relegated despite having placed 7th in the Torneo Final 2014 due to a disastrous campaign in the Torneo Inicial 2013 in which they obtained only 6 points out of a possible 57. With Conti's leadership, Colón was able to be promoted to the First Division again in just six months. Germán remained in the Sabalero team until 2018, leaving for S.L. Benfica of Portugal, where despite a promising start, (12 games in his first year), he ended up not having continuity in the Portuguese team. Conti's signing belonged to Benfica until 2023 and having loaned him on three occasions to Atlas FC, in Mexico, and E.C. Bahia and America-MG, in Brazil. Finally, Lokomotiv Moscow bought the player on a free transfer, and then loaned him back to C.A. Colón, at the explicit request of Germán, who wanted to help his childhood club save itself from relegation, a task that they finally could not fulfill, relegating for the second time with the
sangre y luto in 2023. On January 15th, 2024, he signed for Racing Club for a $1M fee from Lokomotiv Moscow. Germán Conti is considered one of the greatest representatives of the club from the city of Santa Fe, due to his status as a fan and youth player. In the red and black institution, he had played 129 games at the end of 2023. During the years 2017 and 2018, coaches Edgardo Bauza and Eduardo Sampaoli considered calling him to the Argentine National Team, having even placed him on pre-lists, although finally "el Flaco", -as he is called-, did not make up any final list.
