Maâloul is a left-back who can also play as side midfielder. He debuted in 2009 with Sfaxien where he stayed until 2016, making 205 appearances and scoring 37 goals. He then signed for Egyptian club Al Ahly and has played for them since. He has scored 53 goals in 290 matches so far, winning numerous trophies at national and continental level. He has capped for Tunisia 90 times so far, scoring 3 goals.
One of the best and most consistent African left-backs in the 2010s and 2020s, Maâloul is offensive minded, capable of providing numerous assists with his fast crosses, and prolific due to his powerful shots and accuracy from set piece. A penalty specialist, he scored over 50 times from the spot. Gifted with great pace over shirt distances as well as remarkable technical and dribbling skills, he constantly joins the attack, showing also a good ability to run off the shoulders of the defenders to get the ball in the box.
