Attack/Defence Awareness Card: Attack Minded John Sissons was a talented left winger who played for West Ham United from 1963 to 1970. He made an immediate impact by scoring in the 1964 FA Cup final at just 18, helping West Ham win 3-2 against Preston North End. A year later, he played a key role in the club’s 1965 European Cup Winners’ Cup triumph. After leaving West Ham, he had spells with Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic before finishing his career in South Africa with Cape Town City.
Sissons was known for his pace, dribbling, and eye for goal from wide areas. He could beat defenders with skill and speed, making him a dangerous attacking threat on the left wing. Though he never played for the England International, he remains a key figure in West Ham’s successful 1960s era.
