- The precise and subtle football engineer could not be imitated by anyone in his age. He possessed football talent from the very beginning, leadership skills, marksmanship, and technique that could have been taught at university. This is why he became one of the most prominent figures in Czechoslovak football. He came from Ružomberok and had already attended the Lipt Mikuláš gymnasium.
- Viktor Tegelhoff played for the Gunners in the Slovak League, scoring 111 goals in 266 league matches. He scored 25 goals for Ružomberok and 86 goals for Slovan.
- He was the first post-war Slovak national player to stand out for his technique as a center forward not only in this country but throughout Central Europe. He possessed football talent, leadership skills, marksmanship, and technique from the very beginning, and was able to teach at university. He thus became one of the most prominent figures in Czechoslovak football. Although no one could imitate him, he remained underrated. Between 1946 and 1953, he represented our country fourteen times. He scored 111 goals during his sporting career. In 1955, he received the highest honor possible: he became a "Master of Sport." Despite his turbulent life, he never abandoned sport, and even after ending his football career, he continued coaching, where his students won awards under his guidance.
- The first milestone in Viktor's football career was an international friendly match between France and Czechoslovakia, held on April 7, 1946, at the Stade de Paris. It was the first appearance of Czechoslovak footballers in the post-war period. Viktor played in his traditional center forward position alongside a Czechoslovak football legend, in my opinion the greatest Czechoslovak footballer of the 20th century not only for the number of goals he scored—the legendary Slavia Prague captain and Czechoslovak national team captain Josef Bican, whose footballing destiny after 1948 was very similar to Viktor's. Viktor was the only Slovak in this historic match. Although the Czechoslovak national team lost 3-0, that doesn't change how historic the sporting moment was: there was a "sea of spectators" packed into the stadium; I dare not estimate the exact number (I provide a link to the edited recording of the match below the article in the resources). Viktor played for Bratislava Slovan for 14 full seasons, until 1956, despite constant health problems with his surgically repaired knee.
- For a brief period, he also coached Inter Bratislava's B team. Viktor was a discreet footballer, although well-known and famous for his time, who didn't enjoy the hype around him. He stood out above all for his intelligence, decency, modesty, and helpfulness to his loved ones, despite the fact that few people helped him in decisive moments.
- However, he made it to the 1st League. Unfortunately, in a match with Slávia Prešov, he suffered a serious injury, and it seemed he would have to give up playing sports. The Piešt'any spa resort helped him. When he arrived in Bratislava to study forestry engineering, ŠK Bratislava acquired him in the 1942-1943 class. Coach F. Daučík was rejuvenating the team, and Viktor went on the attack: Dulovič, Arpáš, Tegelhoff, Luknár, and Podhradský. These gunners scored 121 goals the following year, with Tegelhoff scoring 27 of them. Later, this conductor added three more, sending forwards such as Laskov, Preis, Šimanský, Pažický, Malatinský, Baláži, V. Hlavatý... Viktor also belongs to the club of league gunners, having scored 111 goals in 266 league matches for Ruzomberok and NV Bratislava. He represented Czechoslovakia nine times and was the first post-war Slovak player to appear for the national team. He had previously played three times for Slovakia, in 1943–1944. He did not score a single goal for the national teams, as he was mainly involved in managerial duties. Viktor lasted 14 years in the white jersey, and despite the fact that his operated knee continued to hurt, he did not say goodbye until the autumn of 1956. He tried to treat it a second time in Piešt'any, but without favorable results. After finishing his studies, he was hired by Slovnaft, where he coached the young talents of the yellow and black jersey for a long time. Viktor was always discreet, unaware of fame or popularity, and stood out above all for his wisdom and modesty.
- It was also the time of the first serious injury that would haunt him for several decades. He injured his knee, and at the time it seemed he wouldn't even play against Slavia Prešov, but fortunately he was helped by the spa town of Piešt'any.
- Starý, as his teammates nicknamed him, was the first post-war Slovak national team player to stand out for his technique as a center forward, not only
- In addition to football, he also excelled in track and field, basketball, and volleyball. Other sports also brought him success in football. Through track and field, he gained speed, and through basketball and volleyball, he gained agility and versatility. In athletics, he also met the excellent Slovak record holder in the discus and shot put, Lubomir Hutjan, who later became a great surgeon.
