Wout Brama was a Dutch defensive midfielder with great tactical intelligence, discipline and a sense of positioning, who spent practically his entire career at FC Twente, a club where he became a symbol of loyalty and consistency. Formed in the youth ranks of Twente, he made his professional debut in 2005 and quickly established himself as a regular player, being an essential part of the team that won the historic Eredivisie title in the 2009–10 season, as well as lifting the Dutch Super Cup and Cup in the following years. With a discreet but extremely efficient playing style, Brama was the typical defensive midfielder who did the “dirty work” with precision: he disarmed with intelligence, covered the spaces of his teammates and provided a safe passes from defense when transitioning to attack, despite not being very attractive to the eye.
He had brief spells at PEC Zwolle, FC Utrecht and even the Central Coast Mariners in Australia, but returned to Twente to end his career, reinforcing his status as one of the players most closely associated with the club, having more than 300 games for The Tukkers, being 66 of these in European competitions, making Brama the club's recordist in this category. He also wore the Dutch national team jersey on a few occasions, although without sequence.
