Nick Marsman was a Dutch goalkeeper who came through the youth ranks of FC Twente. In May 2011, Marsman was promoted to the Twente first team, taking on the role of third choice goalkeeper behind Nikolay Mihaylov and Sander Boschker following the departure of Wilko de Vogt. In the 2013/14 season Marsman became a starter, being a homegrown solution, after the departure of Mihaylov and Boschker already on the verge of retirement.
However, his performances for Twente never inspired confidence in the fans, the team and the coaching staff, with a 13/14 season marked by many inconsistencies and technical errors, some quite gross, which cost the club precious results and points, which ended with a bitter 6th place in the Eredivisie. And for 2014/15, Marsman was sent to the bench, with Sonny Stevens taking over the position as starter.
After his contract with Twente ended, Marsman moved on in the Netherlands, having short spells (mostly as a substitute) with FC Utrecht and Feyenoord. He later ventured abroad to the United States, playing for Inter Miami and San Antonio FC. His time in Uncle Sam's land was considerably more stable without the same mistakes that compromissed him a Twente, although not without controversy... Including one where he questioned the siging of Lionel Messi to Miami, saying that the club was not ready for argentinian genius and got himself fired by David Beckham.
He then returned to the Netherlands, playing the 2023/24 season for ADO Den Haag and Roda JC, but failed to establish himself as a starter at either club, making only a few appearances. He is currently playing for Renofa Yamaguchi FC in the Japanese 2nd division.
