He made his football debut in 1932, playing for Dynamo (České Budějovice), where he spent four seasons.

His performance with this team attracted the attention of the Sparta Prague coaching staff, which he joined in 1937. He played for the Prague team for the next six seasons of his playing career. During this time, he won the Czechoslovak championship twice.

He subsequently played for Pardubice, Nusle, and Český Karlín from 1943 to 1946.

He finished his professional playing career with Dynamo (České Budějovice), the team for which he had previously played. He joined the team in 1946 and played until his retirement from professional football in 1948.

He won three championships with Sparta Prague, in the 1937/1938, 1938/1939, and 1943/1944 seasons.
