Juninho is a Brazilian striker with good mobility, speed, and refined technique, who built a low-key but solid career in European football before returning to Brazil to play for Flamengo. Born in 1996, he began his career with Athlético Paranaense, but he initially lacked prominence, leading to loan spells with several clubs before leaving Brazil to play in Portugal.
His first real breakthrough came in Portugal, where he played for GD Chaves between 2020 and 2023. At the Transmontano club, Juninho showed steady progress, being used both as a winger and as a second striker. With his short dribbling, good reading of space, and efficient finishing, he became an important part of the team's attacking sector, even as the team experienced ups and downs in the standings.
After his time in Portugal, Juninho transferred to Qarabağ FK, in Azerbaijan, where he experienced the peak of his career to date. Playing for one of the country's most traditional clubs, he won national titles and competed in European competitions such as the Europa League and the Conference League, gaining international experience and gaining some notoriety in matches with more visibility. His ability to play on the flanks, regroup defensively and exploit quick transitions has made him a relatively valued name on the market.
In 2024, Flamengo decided to return to Brazil, seeking a versatile and experienced player to complement the squad amid a grueling schedule. Although he hasn't yet established himself as a regular starter for Flamengo (and probably won't), Juninho has been a useful player, frequently joining the team's rotations and delivering intensity and commitment when called upon.
