Terry Dyson was a key winger in Bill Nicholson’s great Spurs side: he scored in the 1961 FA Cup Final to complete the club’s League–FA Cup Double, and hit two in the 1963 European Cup Winners’ Cup Final as Spurs became the first English team to win a major UEFA trophy. He remains the only Tottenham player to score a hat-trick in the North London derby (26 August 1961, 4–3 v Arsenal). Across a decade at Spurs (1955–65), he made well over 200 appearances and won three major honours with the club.

Dyson was a high-energy winger who thrived on short, quick combinations - very much in Spurs’ push-and-run tradition. Dyson made frequent, incisive runs into the box rather than just hugging the touchline - a tendency rooted in his earlier experience as an inside forward. He kept the dribbling simple and direct, often drifting inside to slip passes or attack space. He could shoot and pass accurately by either foot. Positionally, he often switched with Cliff Jones to upset markers, and he matched his attacking spark with hard defensive work—dropping deep to help his full-back and supporting the midfield’s bite alongside Dave Mackay.
