Firas Al-Khatib is a legendary figure and the all-time top scorer of the Syrian national team, as well as one of the icons of the Kuwaiti league. His career spanned 26 years, during which he represented major clubs such as Al-Arabi and Al-Qadsia, and also shone in China and Iraq. He was distinguished by a versatile playing style that combined clinical finishing with both feet and intelligent positioning as a playmaker and a poacher. He achieved a rare global record by continuing to score internationally for more than 18 years before retiring in 2019 and later moving into coaching. As of 2026, he serves as head coach of Kuwait’s Al-Fahaheel Club, carrying on his footballing legacy from the touchline after a career rich in titles and individual achievements.
