Cauet is a former central or side midfielder, who could play also as defensive midfielder and side back. His career began in 1987 at Olympique de Marseille. He transferred to Caen in 1990 and played 153 matches in four seasons, scoring 9 goals. He then spent two years at Nantes between 1994 and 1996, playing 76 games and scoring 5 goals. After a season at Paris Saint-Germain in 1996-97, 47 appearances and 6 goals, he joined Inter. He played 147 games with the Nerazzurri from 1997 to 2001, scoring 7 times. He retired in 2006 after spells at Como, Bastia, CSKA Sofia and Sion.
Cauet was a fighting player of quality and quantity, gifted with great stamina. He was dinamic and able passer and could set up the play, especially with accurate and fast long balls. He could use both feet, possessed decent dribbling, good ball control, pace and a fine shooting ability. Mainly playing outside the box, he didn't dislike advancing to the opposing goal when he had the chance. He also was a decent free kick taker.

Shot accuracy has nothing to do with FK, since he never scored so much goals I think it should be 68-69.
